NOTD #7 || Geography Teacher by Topshop

Hello everyone, hope you're all well! Before we get started I'd just like to say a huge thank you to each and every reader of my blog as on Wednesday I hit 50 Bloglovin' followers! This maybe a small amount to some but to me it means the world especially as I've been blogging for such a short period of time! (Now the soppy bit's over, let's begin!)
I always feel sad for an unnamed nail varnish or lipstick but this has to be one of the best nail polish names I have ever heard or seen of, non?
Geography Teacher is a unique caramel colour which takes two coats to create an opaque glossy nail. The formula of all Topshop polishes are fantastic and this lasted four days completely chip free and six days before any extreme chipping occurred. Priced at only £5, this is extremely affordable and definitely worth the money!
Have you tried any of the Topshop nail polishes? Which shades do you recommend?

Liebster Award

I was fortunate enough to come home from school yesterday and see that the lovely Paula had nominated me for a Liebster award!

The Rules:
You must link the person who nominated you.
You must answer the 10 Liebster questions given to you by the nominee.
You must pick 10 bloggers with under 200 followers to be nominated for the award.
You must come up with 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
You must go to their blogs and notify your nominees.

Here are my answers to Paula's questions:

What are the best and worst foundations you have ever used and why?
As I've been wearing makeup less than a year I haven't had the opportunity to try many foundations however one of the best I've tried is the Bourjois Healthy Mix serum. I have done a full review which you can see HERE. One of the worst I have ever tried has to be Natural Collection's tinted moisturiser. What. Was. I. Thinking. Let's just say it was slightly orange...

What is your favourite nail polish brand and why?
Probably Topshop! The formula is really long lasting on my nails, the colour range is great and the packaging is gorgeous!

Are you a drug store girl or high end?
About 90% of my makeup is drugstore (I feel so American saying that!) and I think most of my favourite products are from there! Occasionally I will splurge on YSL or MAC but all in all I prefer drugstore.

What is your favourite cosmetic brand and why?
My favourite makeup brand is Topshop (surprise surprise)! The quality is far beyond the price and I think there range of lip products is great!

How many blog posts, do you post a week?
I try to do a post once a day, but it ends up to be about five times a week.

Who is your favourite beauty you tuber/guru and why?
I love Zoella, although let's be honest, who doesn't? I've been reading her blog for about a year and watching her videos for about 8 months. Her posts are very original and she is probably the only blogger that I will read EVERY post she does.

The best and worst thing about blogging and why?
I love blogger twitter chats! I participate in the #fblchat and #bbloggers chat and its great to find ways to improve your blog. One of the best parts of blogging so far was when I got my first follower and she left a really nice comment on my blog. It just lifted my spirits and made me really motivated!

Without trying to be negative, the worst thing is probably people asking for 'follow for a follow' or similar. I usually will click on the link of a commenter but when they comment things like that I don't bother. I'd rather have 5 followers who actually enjoyed reading my blog than 1000 who only followed because I followed them.

Which beauty regime do you find to be a chore and why?
Probably plucking my eyebrows! It hurts and you have to be precise!

If you could work for one cosmetic brand, which would you choose and why?
I'd probably chose Soap and Glory as I think they have a fantastic range of products which I've been buying for years. Their cosmetic range is brilliant and they just seem like such a lovely brand to work for.

What is your favourite shade of lipstick?
Definitely a tough one, but I'm probably going to have to say Corail Incandescent by YSL in the Rouge Volupte Shine range. It's a gorgeous red-y coral and I've done a full review which you can read HERE.

Here are my 10 nominees (I went by Bloglovin' followers):

Emily at Freckles and Flaws
Dannii at What I Call Beautiful
Elle at ElleLouisee
Amy at Amy Jane Alice
Megan at Life and Lipsticks
Lauren at Mega Beauty
Belle at Mascaras and Maltesers
Chloe at Chloe Witty
Alexandra at Lipsticks and Heels
Jessica at Coffee and Cosmetics

Here are my 10 questions:
How did you choose the name of your blog?
Why did you start a blog, did anyone inspire you?
How long have you been blogging for?
What is your favourite high end cosmetics brand and why?
What is your favourite high street cosmetics brand and why?
What is your favourite mascara of all time?
Who is your favourite blogger or youtuber and why?
What do you look for in a blog?
What is your favourite fashion item at the moment?
Which is your favourite shop on the high street and why?

So, there you go folks! Hope you enjoyed!

The Best of June || Random

Hello everyone, hope you're all well! June was a slightly tiresome month with lots of exams but there was also lots of fun in between and today I thought I'd tell you what I've been loving through June.
This month I've really been loving Company Magazine! When I was redecorating my wall collage I dug some old iussues out and was having a good old read through.
I have also had Haim's song Forvever on repeat whilst writing new blog posts.
I also discovered Foxes after reference from Company magazine and I have fallen in love with her music. At the moment I'm loving Echo.
I only found this blog at the beginning of the month and I absolutely love it! Libby's posts are so original and creative and never fail to make me laugh! My all time favourite post is, 'I keep having Dreams of Pioneers and Pirate Ships and Bob Dylan.' And whilst you're there I recommend checking out her 'About' page- It's one of the best I've ever read!

As always I've been loving chocolate and Sherlock Holmes, but we don't need a new picture of that every month!

The 30 Day Snap Round Up

By the end the 30 Day Snap dwindled into me forgetting to take my camera places but here are 25 pictures which show that my photography skills have not improved at all!

Battle of the Healthymixes || Foundation Vs. Serum

Hello everyone, hope you're all well! Today's post is going to be a comparison between the re-formulated and packaged infamous Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and an old favourite, the Healthy Mix Serum.
First things first, the shade I have in both of the products is 51, Light Vanilla. I believe this is the fairest of the 8 shades for the foundation and palest of the 6 shades for the serum. Whilst this is a perfect match for me, anyone with a very pale skin tone would struggle. The foundations are also slightly yellow toned.
I bought the foundation about a month ago, and have given it lots of attention as I wanted to be able to do a fair review. The new packaging is a glass bottle with a red pump (Revlon take note- we want pumps), unlike the original foundation which was a plastic tube with a black pump. I prefer the new packaging because I think it looks more professional, sleek and  high end. As I don't travel a lot, thepackaging being glass isn't a problem but I see how it can be if you do.
Bourjois claim this is 16 hour wear and that the foundation gives a healthy glow and flawless complexion along with it being hydrating and giving luminous skin. That is a lot of promises that I'm afraid the foundation doesn't quite live up to. I don't wear makeup for 16 hours but this barely lasts 8! I put this foundation on at about 7 and by 2 it already needs a concealer top up. The finish is very radiant and dewy and the coverage is medium. I wouldn't call this a flawless foundation as it doesn't cover redness very well. However spots and blemishes are hidden without the need for concealer. My skin is dry in some places and oily in others, and although this doesn't cling to dry patches out of the two foundations this is best suited to a combination skin type ( don't be afraid of the word glowy just because your skin is oily).
The foundation also blends really well, and I use the Real Techniques Expert Face brush with it.
I also have a FOTD with this on which you can see HERE.

Available from Boots for £9.99 (although there is a buy one get one half price offer on selected cosmetics at the moment) and £9.99 from Superdrug (although there is currently a 3 for 2 on Bourjois products)
Now onto the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation. The packaging for this is plastic with a white, prone to looking messy, pump and red lid. I equally like the packaging for both the serum and foundation and I actually quite like the pictures of fruit showing that vitamin rich fruits such as pomegranates and goji berries that are some of the ingredients.
I got on with the serum straight away when I bought it back in April and I still really like it. The coverage is light, although buildable, and blends really nicely. Bourjois again claim that the gel foundation is 16 hour wear and gives a radiance boosted, even, revived complexion. And again I think these claims are exaggerated. The serum lasts a mere 6 hours on my skin, when applied lightly, but the foundation is very glowly and radiant whilst not making my skin look sweaty or shiny. In the picture below you can see how natural it looks.
I can't seem to find the Serum on the Boots website but it is available for £10.99 in Superdrug which again has the 3 for 2 offer.

Overall, I really love both of these bases, but the Serum definitely wins it for me. If you have oilier skin I would recommend the foundation but the Serum, in my opinion, is definitely one of the best foundations I've tried on the high street.

Have you tried either of the foundations? Which do you prefer?
